NFT ARTWORKS

DESIGN STORY:

QUIRKY | WEIRD | AWESOME

I participated in designing and finalizing some aspects of this project. Rush Rhythm started as an idea of a collection of NFT, focusing on weird combinations of well-known characters and things-you-would-never-expect-they-could-be.

The concept was to create vibrant, joyful and special artworks of more than 50 characters. They must be in very saturated colors and shaped in geometric only.

DESIGN PROCESS:

SKETCH | LINE ART | COLORS | 3D VISUALIZATION

The first stage of designing the NFTs were: Defining a concept (combining a character and a job/an action), Sketch, Line Art, Color Key and Rendering in 3D.

The final 3D image differed a lot from the original sketch because adjustments had to be made (when bringing the 2D into 3D space, color correction...)

WEBSITE

DESIGN IDEAS:

COLORFUL | GEOMETRIC | VIBRANT | BRANDING ELEMENTS

The concept of the Rush Rhythm website had to stay true to the branding design of the collection. Which meant the interface had to consist only of geometric and extremely colorful shapes, bold and sans-serif typeface.

The website introduced all the NFT Artworks, Merchandises, Short videos, Comics, Games and Toys related to the brand.

JIGSAW PUZZLE

DESIGN IDEAS:

COLORFUL | GEOMETRIC | VIBRANT | BRANDING ELEMENTS

The Jigsaw puzzle Box was designed using elements and colors related to the characters in Rush Rhythm. The idea was to create something "mosaic" like the puzzle itself, at the same time, keep the general playful mood of the brand.

Different options were developed and chose the best to finalized.

ASSEMBLING TOYS

DESIGN IDEAS:

SIMPLIFIED | SEPERATED PARTS | VIBRANT | BRANDING ELEMENTS

Assembling Toys were another "pop up" section of the design process. However, the idea of toys came late to the game, so the original NFT artworks were not ideal for toy making. They were created "freely" in mind, while toy production process required precise, minimal details and colors.

With the challenge of turning "NFTs" into "Assembling Toys", I did my best by doing a lot of research regardings the construction and anatomy of typical toys, then simplifying unnecessary parts and colors in the original concepts.

DESIGN STEPS:

DIVIDE THE ARTWORK INTO BLOCKS - FIND A TYPE OF SUITABLE JOINT

It was important to find the most suitable type of joint (in the neck of the character). Then the artwork must be divided into sensible parts, not to many, good enough for coloring and assembling.

Then the size and dimension were carefully calculated.

APPLY THE "RULES" FOR THE ARTWORKS

It was rather challenging to set the same rules on each of the artworks. They were all different in shapes and colors. I had to make a standing plate for all, resize, redrawn and simplify all of them, step by step acoustically.

COLOR AND DISPLAY THE PARTS AND THEIR CONNECTIONS

To desmonstrate how the toy would be divided, a sampling colored version had to be prepared. Also explaning the joints and connections between all of the assembling parts. Sometimes, see-through visuals helped explaining clearer the toy's structure.

DID YOU KNOW?

STILL GOING

The project is still going on at the moment, with the participation of a team of designers and vfx artists. I was in charged of designing toys and board games for the project. Hopefully they will get published in the future.
